You arrive late morning, take a lounger by the pool, and settle in for the day. The pool is the centre of things – you swim through the hottest hours, then have lunch on the terrace looking out at the stone plateau and the Atlas beyond. Most guests stay four to six hours; the pass runs roughly 11:30 to 17:30. It stays deliberately low-key: no loud music, just space, water and the desert light.

Getting there

Good to know before you go
Bring swimwear, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream – there is shade, but the midday sun is strong. Pool days are best from spring to autumn. Weekends fill up, so we book a few days ahead when we can. If you plan to stay for the sunset dinner, pack a light layer; the desert cools quickly once the sun drops. The last stretch of road is desert track, so a normal car manages it but a transfer is easier.
