Day Trip From Marrakech to Atlas Mountains
Booking direct with us supports local Agafay families. Read our social mission →
Our day trip from Marrakech to Atlas Mountains gets you out of the city and into the Ourika valley in about an hour. You travel privately, with your own driver and an air-conditioned car, so we stop when a view is worth it and you set the pace. It’s a full day of Berber villages, river-side cafes and a walk up to the Setti Fatma falls, and you’re back in Marrakech by evening.

Trip highlights
- An hour’s drive from Marrakech into the High Atlas foothills
- A working Berber village, with a look at how argan oil and mint tea are made
- The Ourika river and the terraced fields that follow it upstream
- A guided walk to the waterfalls at Setti Fatma
- Lunch on a terrace over the water (paid on the day)
- Time to stop for photos at the passes and the pottery stalls
Morning: Marrakech to the Ourika valley
We pick you up after breakfast and drive south, past the last of the city and into open country where the Atlas peaks start to show. The road follows the Ourika river most of the way. We stop at a Berber house where a family shows you the old way of pressing argan and pours you mint tea; there’s no pressure to buy anything. On a clear morning you can see snow on the higher summits well into spring.
Route: Marrakech, Tnine Ourika, Berber village stop, Setti Fatma.
Afternoon: the falls and the walk back
At Setti Fatma a local guide walks you up the rocky path to the first waterfall. It’s not a hard climb but the stones can be slick, so wear shoes with some grip. Lunch is at one of the riverside places, tagine or grilled meat with your feet almost in the water. Afterwards we drive back down the valley and drop you wherever you’re staying in Marrakech.
Route: Setti Fatma falls, lunch by the river, back to Marrakech.

FAQ
Is this a private trip?
Yes. The car, the driver and the day are yours alone, so you’re not sharing with strangers or waiting on a group.
What time do we leave and get back?
We usually collect you around 9am and have you back in Marrakech by early evening. If you want an earlier start to beat the traffic, just tell us.
When is the best time to go?
Spring and autumn are the kindest, with green valleys and a full river. Summer is hotter but the water is a relief, and winter can bring snow on the peaks above you.
Can you customise the day?
We can. Some people want more walking, others want to add the Asni or Oukaimeden valley. Tell us what you’re after and we’ll build the day around it.
