Full Day Trip from Marrakech to Essaouira

We pick you up from your riad after breakfast for a full day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira, the old port town on the Atlantic. It’s about three hours each way in a private air-conditioned car, so you and your driver set the pace and stop when you feel like it. You get the whole afternoon to walk the ramparts, poke around the medina, and eat fish by the harbor before we drive you back the same evening.

The drive out and the coast

The road runs west across dry plains, and after an hour or so you’re into argan trees, the twisted ones you’ll sometimes see with goats up in the branches. We stop at a roadside co-op where the women crack the nuts and press the oil; it’s a short visit and there’s no pressure to buy. From there the land opens up and you get your first look at the ocean as you drop down into town.

Route: Marrakech, Chichaoua, the argan belt, then down to the coast at Essaouira. Around 190 km each way.

Afternoon in Essaouira, then back

Your driver parks near Bab Marrakech and you head in on foot. Walk the ramparts for the wind and the view, watch the boats unload at the port, and wander the medina lanes with the wood workshops and the small shops. Lunch is up to you; the fish grills by the harbor are the easy choice. When you’ve had enough, we meet back at the car and drive you home to Marrakech in the evening.

Is this a private trip? Yes. It’s just your group, your driver and your car, with no other travelers joining.

What time do we start and get back? We usually leave around 8 in the morning and have you back in Marrakech by early evening. We can shift the pick-up if you’d rather start earlier.

When is the best time to go? Essaouira is mild all year and stays cooler than Marrakech in summer. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable.
