We meet you at your riad in the morning for a guided tour of Marrakech on foot, led by a licensed local guide who actually knows the medina. Over about four hours you walk the palaces, the souks and the main squares, and the guide fills in the history and points you toward the shops and cafes worth your time. It’s a walking tour, so wear comfortable shoes; we keep the pace easy and stop for tea when you need it.

Walking the old city
We usually start at the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century home with tiled courtyards and carved cedar ceilings, then walk toward the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter, and the spice market nearby. From there the guide takes you into the souks, where the lanes split by trade and it’s easy to get lost on your own. You pass the Ben Youssef area and come out near the Koutoubia and the big square.

The squares and the finish
The tour ends around Jemaa el-Fna, the square that fills up with juice stalls, snake charmers and, come evening, food grills and crowds. If you want, we go up to a rooftop terrace for a mint tea and a look over the whole thing before we say goodbye. Your guide can point you to a good lunch spot or walk you back toward your riad.

Is the tour private? Yes. It’s just your group with your own guide, so you set the pace and can ask whatever you like.
What time do we start and finish? We usually start around 9 in the morning and finish by early afternoon. An afternoon start works too if you prefer.
How much walking is it? A few hours on flat ground with breaks. The medina streets are uneven, so comfortable shoes help.
Can we customize the route or change the pick-up? Yes, tell us what you most want to see and where you’re staying, and we’ll adjust the plan.
