We pick you up from your Marrakech riad in the morning and drive about 40 minutes to the Agafay stone desert. This Agafay camel ride and lunch is the calm way to see the desert: a slow camel walk along the ridges, then a Moroccan lunch in a Berber camp with the plains in front of you. There is no rush to it, which makes it easy for families and anyone who would rather take in the scenery than chase speed.
What you’ll do
At the camp a handler helps you up onto the camel and leads the group out on foot. The camels walk you along the stony ridges and down into the shallow valleys, at a pace that leaves you free to look around and take photos. The Atlas mountains stay in view the whole way, and the guide points out the villages and the old caravan tracks that cross this part of the desert.
After the ride you sit down to lunch in the tent. It is a Moroccan spread, usually salads, a tagine or couscous, and fruit to finish, with mint tea poured throughout. You can stay on the terrace afterward and enjoy the quiet before we drive you back to Marrakech.

How long does the camel ride last?
The ride runs about an hour. With the drive from Marrakech and lunch, the whole outing takes around four to five hours.
Is transfer from Marrakech included?
Yes. We collect you at your riad or hotel and bring you back afterward. Pick-up in central Marrakech is included at no extra charge.
What is the best time of day to go?
Morning is the usual pick, with cooler air for the ride and lunch to follow. We also run a sunset version if you would rather ride in the evening light.
Can we customize it?
Yes. You can add quad biking, a day-pass with pool access, or shift to a sunset ride. Tell us your group and what you want and we build it around that.
