Half Day Tour of Marrakech to All Attractions and Historical Sites
Booking direct with us supports local Agafay families. Read our social mission →
Our half day tour of Marrakech is the quickest way to get your bearings in the old city and see the sights that matter without rushing. You go on foot for most of it with a local guide who grew up here, and we handle the car for the parts that are too far to walk. In four hours or so you cover the Koutoubia, a palace, the souks and the main square, and we drop you back wherever you like.

Trip highlights
- The Koutoubia mosque and its 12th-century minaret, the tallest thing on the skyline
- Bahia Palace, with its painted ceilings and quiet courtyards
- A walk through the souks, from lanterns and leather to spices and carpets
- The Ben Youssef quarter and the old medersa nearby
- Jemaa el-Fna, the main square, with its juice carts and storytellers
- A guide who can read the medina and keep you from getting lost
Into the medina
We meet you at your hotel and start at the Koutoubia, a useful landmark since you can see the minaret from half the city. From there we walk to Bahia Palace, built for a grand vizier in the 1800s, where the guide points out the cedar ceilings and the courtyards. Then we head into the souks proper. The lanes twist and branch, and each tends to sell one thing, so you’ll pass a street of coppersmiths, then dyers, then slipper makers.
Route: Koutoubia, Bahia Palace, the souks, Ben Youssef medersa.
The square and back
We finish at Jemaa el-Fna, which is calmer by day and turns into a food market at dusk. If you want a mint tea on a rooftop over the square, this is the spot for it. When you’re ready the driver takes you back to your hotel, or drops you near the Majorelle garden if you’d rather carry on there. Tell the guide what you like and the walk bends to suit you.
Route: Souks, Jemaa el-Fna, drop-off at your hotel or Gueliz.

FAQ
Is the tour private?
Yes, it’s just your group with the guide and driver. Nobody else joins, so the pace and the stops are yours.
Morning or afternoon start?
Both work. Mornings are cooler and the souks are waking up; afternoons let you end at Jemaa el-Fna as the food stalls set up. You choose when we book.
When is the best time of year?
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable for walking. In summer we start early or late to dodge the midday heat, and winter days are clear and mild.
Can we add or change stops?
Of course. Some guests want to add the Majorelle garden or the Saadian tombs, others want more time in the souks. Let us know and we’ll fit it in.
