The 1 hour buggy agafay tour puts you behind the wheel of a two-seat buggy for a full hour on the tracks of the Agafay, about 40 minutes from Marrakech. This is the stone desert, gravel plains and dry riverbeds rather than soft sand, which makes for firm, fast ground and long lines of sight across the plateau. You follow a guide who sets the route and the pace, so you can push it on the open flats and take it slow through the rougher sections. We can arrange a transfer from your hotel or you can drive yourself out to base.
What you’ll do
When you arrive at base the team fits you with a helmet and goggles and runs a short briefing on the controls, the brakes and the hand signals the guide uses out on the track. The buggies are automatic, so there’s no gearbox to worry about and you’re driving within a couple of minutes. From there you head out in a small group behind the guide for a full hour across the Agafay, over gravel flats, along dry wadis and up onto rises with views toward the Atlas. There’s a stop partway to rest, swap driver and passenger if you like, and take photos. Two people can share one buggy and trade seats at the halfway point.

Do I need a driving license? A valid license is asked for to drive the buggy yourself. Without one you can still ride along as the passenger while someone else drives.
How many people fit in a buggy? Two. You and a passenger share one buggy and can swap seats at the halfway stop.
Is it hard to drive? No. The buggies are automatic and the guide keeps the pace sensible, so it suits first-timers as well as people who’ve driven before.
What should I wear? Closed shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dusty, and sunglasses. The stone desert kicks up fine dust behind the buggies.
